Only in the light that shines from Calvary can nature's teaching be read aright. Through the story of Bethlehem and the cross let it be shown how good is to conquer evil, and how every blessing that comes to us is a gift of redemption. Ed 101.

Ephesians 2:8-10--Matthew 22:37-40--Hebrews 10:15-17

The Ten Commandments.
Not The Ten Suggestions

Ephesians 2:8-10 [8] For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,[9] not of works, lest anyone should boast.[10] For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Matthew 22:37-40 [37] Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’[38] “This is the first and great commandment.[39] “And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’[40] “On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
Hebrews 10:15-17 [15] But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before,[16] “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,”* [17] then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”[18] Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.

  1.  I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
  2.  Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;  And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
  3.  Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
  4. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
  5.  Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
  6.  Thou shalt not kill.
  7.  Thou shalt not commit adultery.
  8.  Thou shalt not steal.
  9.  Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
  10.  Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

Steps in Salvation

John 3:14-16, Luke 24:46.47, John 3:5, Ephesians 2:8-10, Romans 3:31, Matthew 22:37-40, Hebrews 10:15-17, Ephesians 5:2, John 15:4.10., Romans 8:3.4. 1 John 5:3. NKJV

John 3:14-16 [14] “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,[15] “that whoever believes in Him should not perish but* have eternal life.[16] “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Luke 24:46.47 [46] Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise* from the dead the third day,[47] “and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

John 3:5 [5] Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

Romans 3:31 [31] Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law.

Matthew 22:37-40 [37] Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’*[38] “This is the first and great commandment.[39] “And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’* [40] “On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

Hebrews 10:15-17 [15] But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before,[16] “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,”* [17] then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”

Ephesians 5:2 [2] And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

John 15:4.10 [4] “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. [10] “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love.

Romans 8:3.4 [3] For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh,[4] that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

1 John 5:3 [3] For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.

HEBREWS 11: 1-40 NKJV
By Faith We Understand

[11:1] Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.[2] For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.[3] By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

1--Faith at the Dawn of History

[4] By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.[5] By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”;* for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God.[6] But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.[7] By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

2--Faithful Abraham

[8] By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. [9] By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise;[10] for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.[11] By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child* when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised.[12] Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born as many as the stars of the sky in multitude—innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore.

3--The Heavenly Hope

[13] These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them,* embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.[14] For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland.[15] And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return.[16] But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.

4--The Faith of the Patriarchs

[17] By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,[18] of whom it was said, “In Isaac your seed shall be called,”*[19] concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead, from which he also received him in a figurative sense.[20] By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come.[21] By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff.[22] By faith Joseph, when he was dying, made mention of the departure of the children of Israel, and gave instructions concerning his bones. The Faith of Moses [23] By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king's command.[24] By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, [25] choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin,[26] esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in* Egypt; for he looked to the reward.[27] By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.[28] By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, lest he who destroyed the firstborn should touch them.[29] By faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land, whereas the Egyptians, attempting to do so, were drowned.

5--By Faith They Overcame

[11:1] [30] By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days.[31] By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she had received the spies with peace.[32] Note And what more shall I say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jephthah, also of David and Samuel and the prophets:[33] who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,[34] quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.[35] Women received their dead raised to life again. Others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection.[36] Still others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yes, and of chains and imprisonment.[37] They were stoned, they were sawn in two, were tempted,* were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented—[38] of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth.[39] And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise,[40] God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.

The Greatest Gift

1 Corinthians 13:1-13 NKJV

[13:1] Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.
[2] And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
[3] And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.
[4] Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;
[5] does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;
[6] does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
[7] bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
[8] Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.
[9] For we know in part and we prophesy in part.
[10] But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.
[11] When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
[12] For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
[13] And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

The Beatitudes

Matthew 5:3-12 The Net Bible

[3] “Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
[4] Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.
[5] Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth.
[6] Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.
[7] Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy.
[8] Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.
[9] Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.
[10] Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
[11] “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.
[12] “Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
